Meet the Team
Joshua Garza, Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer
Joshua Garza has a long, storied history in the funeral business. Beginning in the early 1980’s, Joshua embarked upon his career but, as he puts it, “At the age of twelve, I knew I wanted to be a mortician.” “Josh” said that, coming from a religious family, he was utterly fascinated by the spiritual implications of death and draws inspiration from this thought even today. He also stated that he truly loves to be a source of help and comfort for the families he is called to serve.
Josh graduated from Palmdale High School, in California, in 1977, then enlisted in the Air Force. He served as a Security Police Specialist and achieved the Award of Honor Graduate from Camp Bullis. After leaving the Air Force, Josh entered the Mortuary Science Program at Cypress College and graduated on the Dean’s Honor Roll. Josh trained and excelled in Reconstructive Arts, and received a citation for his work from the Department of Defense, at Edwards Air Force Base. He used these skills to serve as Deputy Coroner in Butts County, CA, serving a total of five years. From there, Josh has served the funeral industry for over 30 years, doing everything from being a Funeral Director/Embalmer to managing multiple firms to running his own mortuary service. In total, Josh has spent over 38 years in the funeral industry.
When Josh is not at the mortuary, he can be found playing and listening to his favorite music, riding his bike through the neighborhood, enjoying BBQ cookouts, and playing cards or just hanging out with good friends. He likes to visit family back home, in California, and while there, he likes to “jam” with the old neighborhood band. He has 6 children and 13 grandchildren, that are the love of his live, and also enjoys spending time with his 4-legged companions, “Willie, Baxter and Lacy.”
